The past few months have been very busy at the Local Headquarters (LHQ) of 3016 Calgary Highlanders (Airdrie) RCACC. Following the Christmas break they got right back into the required training, as well as revved up their optional activities.

On Jan. 18, they travelled to Penhold to take part in the Lord Strathcona Trust Sports competition, this completion is comprised of cadets from all three elements, army, sea and air. While they returned without any hardware to show for their efforts, they represented themselves and the Airdrie area very well.

On Feb. 22, our marksmanship team travelled to HMCS Techumseh in Calgary to compete in zones, where they placed eighth. Corporal Cruickshank finished tied for second.

On March 8, we again ventured up Highway 2 to Penhold, this time to compete in the Lord Strathcona Trust Drill competition, where we placed second. The drill team was back in action on March 22 at Mewata Armouries in Calgary for the Army Cadet Southern Zones Drill Competition. After a very enjoyable day of drill, our team was awarded the bronze medal.
